We’ve got some big news from the Sage world! Sage have announced that from 30th September 2021, they are ending support for Sage 50 Manufacturing, their main manufacturing software. Cim50 manufacturing is the latest version that will be replacing this.
This means that the software (Sage 50 Manufacturing) is effectively nearing its end of life. It will no longer be sold by vendors or receive any support or updates.
Fortunately, for those who use the accounting software, Sage have already begun to sell Cim50 manufacturing as a replacement for Sage 50 Manufacturing.
The news gets better as Reality Solutions have been a Cim50 manufacturing partner for 18 months, so we’re fully equipped to deliver this Sage software!
Here’s everything you need to know about what is happening with Sage 50 and when Cim50 manufacturing is set to replace it.
There are of course many businesses who rely on their Manufacturing accounting software. Sage recognise this and have been quick to provide alternative options to Sage 50 manufacturing.
They will be reselling Cim50 modules with immediate effect in order to replace their current Cim50 Manufacturing output. We talked about this great piece of software in this blog post.
Cim50 manufacturing is part of CIM services, a company that has more than 25 years’ experience in the Manufacturing software industry. The modules they’ll be selling include Bill of Materials, Planning, Quotations, Stock Control and more, a substantial upgrade from Sage 50 manufacturing software.
Alternatively, Sage 200cloud presents an enviable replacement. Within this expansive software are effective manufacturing capabilities. You can read more about what it does here.
This is a big move for Sage and shows that they recognise the need to bring their offerings up to date by getting rid of Sage 50 manufacturing.
The current software is ageing and requires significant investment to keep it going. Their adoption of Cim50 manufacturing shows they understand there are better and more effective products on the market.
In their statement announcing this update they said they’ve ‘thought carefully about how we continue to serve our customers long-term changing needs’ with regards to removing Sage 50 manufacturing.
This seems to be clear from their actions and indicates they are a company dedicated to providing the best Sage solutions for businesses, so that they can succeed at what they do.
You may be thinking, ‘hang on, this is change to Cim50 manufacturing is still quite a long way off isn’t it?’
Well yes, it is a while away but actually, key changes are happening much sooner and it’s better to be prepared.
These are the key dates you need to know.
These dates do mean that they are phasing out support for Sage 50 Manufacturing before the big end date. The idea presumably being to limit the affect on as many people as possible before they completely pull the plug.
It will become harder to use and they certainly won’t be pushing sales of it from now on. Instead Cim50 manufacturing will be their go-to Manufacturing solution rather than Sage 50 Manufacturing.
The good news is we already sell Cim50 and will continue to offer support for our customers who use Sage 50 Manufacturing. So, in that sense we offer the best of both worlds.
We definitely recommend moving over to Cim50 as soon as possible as it is a comprehensive and effective piece of software and will no doubt make your life easier.
Whatever your position we’d be happy to help you get the most out of your software.
