Our Macmillan Coffee Morning!

October 02, 2020

A Sweet Success!

Last week, our team at Reality Solutions helped to organise a very successful coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support! Our Marketing Executive Pete told us a bit more about how the day went…

“After discussing the idea with several colleagues, we decided that it would be great to get involved in Macmillan’s ‘World’s Biggest coffee Morning’ fundraising event, as these guys do an amazing job in the community and need all the support they can get! We also saw it as an opportunity to spend the day eating cake in the office, so how could we not get involved?”

“From the start, we knew organising an event like this would be a challenge due to the current social distancing restrictions implemented by the UK Government to tackle coronavirus. However, after doing some careful planning, we realised that we could still host an amazing socially distant event for our staff and hopefully raise some money in the process!

For the event, we sent out an invitation to all our staff, to see if anybody would like to contribute to the event by doing some home baking and brining some delicious treats to the office on Friday 25th September!

On the day of the event we had an incredible turnout! So many of our colleagues got involved and contributed by baking cakes, savoury snacks, and sweet treats! I quickly learnt that we have some incredibly talented master bakers in our team, who I secretly hope will bring in some more baked goods to the office in the future!

On the day, we had a collection box available as well as an online donation page, where everybody could contribute whatever they could to Macmillan Cancer Support.

We also held a competition, where we asked our staff to guess how many sprinkles there were on a ‘Colin the Caterpillar Cake’! We had loads of guesses from the team, but there could only be one winner! After counting every sprinkle on the cake, the closest guess came from our Technical Support Technician Chris Richardson making him the winner of the ‘Colin the Caterpillar Cake’! We also had two runner-up prizes for my colleagues Josh Smith and Amy Pittock who also had two incredibly accurate estimates!

At the end of the day, we tallied up all the money we had raised in our collection box and online, and we were blown away by how much we had raised!

In total, we managed to raise £175 for Macmillan Cancer Support!

This was an incredible amount to raise in just one day, and I was so incredibly proud of everybody who got involved!

All in all, we had an amazing day, and I am already starting to think ahead for next year, where our challenge will be to see if we can beat this target!”
