Sage 50 & Sage 200 and the HMRC Gateway Submitting the VAT return online via Sage 50/Sage 50c has been a huge improvement in processing tax returns, however HMRC has confirmed that as of the 14th February 2018 they will be decommissioning the Electronic Data Interchange channel (EDI) that Sage uses to facilitate this submission. Some existing services will need to be migrated to a new service by this date.
Manual submissions by the HMRC website are unaffected but for companies who rely on the Sage tool an upgrade may be necessary.
As per the same information as Sage 50c the decommission of the Sage EDI ingratiation will also affect Sage 200 customers from 14th February. Customers who have already upgraded to Sage 200c (Professional and Standard) will be unaffected however, older versions of Sage 200 will be required to either submit their data manually online or upgrade to Sage 200c to remain compliant.
For customers who submit their tax returns through Sage this development is a major update within the software.
